Nella proposta scrivevo:
"Nello spirito delle Parole Gelate di Rabelais (1), appesi a palloncini colorati e luminosi, una dozzina di altoparlanti portatili diffonderanno di giorno e di notte, voci che raccontano i loro sogni; voci anonime raccolte prima e durante la residenza che saranno diffuse solo nei modi e in occasione dell’installazione."
Ho raccolto 90 sogni raccontati in francese, italiano, inglese, cinese, coreano, tunisino, spagnolo. Sogni, parte di un archivio intimo e privato, diffusi discretamente solo in occasione dell'installazione.
Ho la fortuna e la gioia di poter riproporre l’installazione nell’ambito della doppia residenza (dal 22/12/2023 al 7/01/2024 e dal 15/06 al 14/07/2024) che faremo, insieme con l’amico fotografo e videasta Eugenio Pini, in coincidenza con i prossimi solstizi invernale 2023 ed estivo 2024 presso lo Spitsbergen Kunstnerhybler Artist Residency, Longyearbyen, Isole Svalbard, Norvegia.
Le ragioni di questa riproposizione sono principalmente due:
- le parole gelate della battaglia raccontata da Rabelais che sciogliendosi al termine dell’inverno, cadono dall’alto misteriose e profonde, come sogni e memorie: é immediato il collegamento con la notte/inverno ed il giorno/estate del circolo polare artico.
- la vulnerabilità dell’ambiente delle isole Svalbard che impone come condizione la (quasi) impossibilità di realizzare installazioni artistiche é una sfida: fragile, utopica, incantata ed effimera come i sogni l’installazione vivrà nella documentazione del suo farsi, nel racconto del processo di messa in scena e nella sua memoria ed interpretazione.
Con Eugenio proponiamo un concetto di installazione off-line, esplicitamente ispirato al film Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHOza45c57w) il concerto "Live" dei Pink Floyd che ha avuto – credo - il maggior numero di spettatori, anche se non c'erano spettatori “dal vivo” al momento del concerto: impossibile e proibito avere migliaia di persone nel fragile spazio dell'antico anfiteatro di Pompei.
Allo stesso modo, il fragile ambiente della Spitsbergen Artists Residency di Longyearbyen suggerisce un'installazione temporanea off-line a bassissimo impatto real-time che vivrà, come i sogni, nel racconto, nella memoria, nella interpretazione.
La nostra doppia residenza / doppio sogno si nutrirà della vostra partecipazione: si realizzerà come documentazione e interpretazione della (quasi) impossibilità di realizzare un’installazione in quel contesto difficile, fragile e incantato: la documentazione del processo di questa difficoltà sarà la realizzazione del progetto.
Vi invitiamo ad inviarci i vostri sogni
raccontati in file audio che resteranno anonimi al di la del “live” dell’installazione e dell’off-line della sua documentazione.
"... tutto ciò che viviamo e concepiamo come sogno è sogno: sogni raccontati al risveglio; altri che si ricordano da tempo; sogni conosciuti perché raccontati da altri (genitori, figli, nonni, amici, sconosciuti di passaggio, ...), sogni scritti e riletti, anche brevissimi frammenti di sogno, ... La raccolta dei sogni continua con nuovi richiami per nuove occasioni. I sogni, parte di questo mio archivio intimo e privato, saranno svelati solo in occasione dell'installazione, ma non condivisi in altro modo."
Indicazioni per le registrazioni audio:
- preferibilmente registrate audio compresi tra 10 ed i 100 secondi,
- potete registrare con il telefono portatile: non é necessaria l’alta fedeltà,
- non dite il vostro nome; potete indicarlo nel nome del file se volete,
- se il file é superiore ai 3Mb inviatelo possibilmente con un file transfer o caricatelo su un drive condiviso.

In July 2021, as part of the conference L'Enchantement qui révient, held in the magical spaces of the Château de Cerisy, I proposed and realised Entre son et songe: Dream’s Cloud, a visual and sound installation that was later used for the cover of the conference proceedings.
In the proposal, I wrote:
"In the spirit of Rabelais's Frozen Words (1), suspended from colourful and luminous balloons, a dozen portable loudspeakers will diffuse, day and night, voices narrating their dreams; anonymous voices collected before and during the residency, diffused only in the manner and on the occasion of the installation."
I have collected 90 dreams narrated in French, Italian, English, Chinese, Korean, Tunisian and Spanish. Dreams that form part of an intimate and private archive, discreetly diffused only on the occurrence of the installation.
I have the good fortune and the joy to present the installation again as part of the double residency (from 22/12/2023 to 7/01/2024 and from 15/06 to 14/07/2024) that we will make together with my friend, the photographer and videomaker Eugenio Pini, coinciding with the upcoming winter 2023 summer 2024 solstices at the Spitsbergen Kunstnerhybler Artist Residency, Longyearbyen, Svalbard Islands, Norway.
There are two main reasons for this new proposal:
- the frozen words of Rabelais' battle, which melt at the end of winter and drop from above, mysterious and deep, like dreams and memories: the connection with the night/winter and day/summer of the arctic circle is immediate,
- the vulnerable environment of Spitsbergen that makes it (almost) impossible to achieve art installations is a challenge: fragile, utopian, enchanted, and ephemeral like dreams, the installation will live on in the documentation of its making, in the narration of the process of its creation, and in its memory and interpretation.
With Eugenio, we propose an off-line installation concept, explicitly inspired by the film Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHOza45c57w) Pink Floyd's 'Live' concert that had-I believe-the largest number of spectators, even though there were no 'live' spectators at the time of the concert: impossible and forbidden to have thousands of people in the fragile space of the ancient amphitheatre of Pompeii.
Similarly, the fragile environment of the Spitsbergen Artists Residency in Longyearbyen suggests an off-line, very low real-time temporary installation that will live, like dreams, in storytelling, in memory, in interpretation.
Our double residency/double dream will be nourished by your participation: it will be realized as a documentation and interpretation of the (almost) impossibility of realizing an installation in this difficult, fragile, and enchanted context: the documentation of the process of this difficulty will be the realization of the project.
We invite you to send us your dreams
told in audio files that will remain anonymous beyond the 'live' installation and its offline documentation.
“... everything we experience and imagine as a dream is a dream: dreams shared when we are awake; others we remember from a long time ago; dreams known because they have been recounted by others (parents, children, grandparents, friends, passing strangers, ...), dreams written down and re-read, even very short fragments of dreams, ... The collection of dreams continues with new evocations for new occasions. The dreams, part of my intimate and private archive, will only be revealed on the occasion of the installation, but will not be shared in any other way.”
Indications for audio recordings
- preferably record short audio, between 10 and 100 seconds,
- you can record with your mobile phone: high fidelity is not necessary,
- do not say your name; you may mention it in the file name if you wish,
- if the file is larger than 3Mb possibly send it by file transfer or upload it to a shared drive.

En juillet 2021, dans le cadre du colloque L'Enchantement qui revient, qui s'est tenu dans les espaces magiques du Château de Cerisy, j'ai proposé et réalisé Entre son et songe : Dream’s Cloud, une installation visuelle et sonore qui a ensuite été utilisée pour la publication de la couverture des actes de la conférence.
J’avais alors écrit dans la proposition :
"Dans l'esprit des Paroles gelées de Rabelais (1), suspendus à des ballons colorés et lumineux, une douzaine de haut-parleurs portatifs diffuseront, jour et nuit, des voix narrant leurs rêves ; des voix anonymes collectées avant et pendant la résidence, diffusées uniquement à la manière et à l'occasion de l'installation."
J'ai recueilli 90 rêves racontés en français, italien, anglais, chinois, coréen, tunisien et espagnol. Des rêves qui font partie d'une archive intime et privée, diffusée, discrètement, qu'à l'occasion de l'installation.
J'ai la chance et la joie de présenter à nouveau l'installation dans le cadre de la double résidence (du 22/12/2023 au 7/01/2024 et du 15/06 au 14/07/2024) que nous réaliserons avec mon ami, le photographe et vidéaste Eugenio Pini, coïncidant avec les prochains solstices d'hiver 2023 et d'été 2024 à la Spitsbergen Kunstnerhybler Artist Residency, Longyearbyen, Îles Svalbard, Norvège.
Deux arguments principaux motivent cette nouvelle proposition :
- les « mots gelées » de la bataille racontée par Rabelais, qui se fondent à la fin de l'hiver et tombent d'en haut, mystérieux et profonds, comme des rêves et des mémoires : le lien avec la nuit/hiver et le jour/été du cercle polaire est immédiat ;
- l'environnement fragile des îles Svalbard, qui rend (presque) impossible la réalisation d'installations artistiques est un challenge : fragile, utopique, enchantée et éphémère comme les rêves, l'installation vivra dans la documentation de sa réalisation, dans la narration du processus de mise en scène, dans sa mémoire et dans son interprétation.
Avec Eugenio, nous proposons un concept d'installation hors ligne, explicitement inspiré par le film Pink Floyd : Live at Pompeii : (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHOza45c57w) le concert 'Live' de Pink Floyd qui a eu - je crois - le plus grand nombre de spectateurs, même s'il n'y avait pas de spectateurs 'live' au moment du concert : impossible et interdit d'avoir des milliers de personnes dans l'espace fragile de l'amphithéâtre antique de Pompéi.
De même, l'environnement fragile de la Spitsbergen Artists Residency à Longyearbyen suggère une installation temporaire hors ligne, en temps réel, qui vivra, comme les rêves, dans les récits, la mémoire et l'interprétation.
Notre double résidence / double rêve sera nourri par votre participation : il sera réalisé comme une documentation et une interprétation de la (presque) impossibilité de réaliser une installation dans ce contexte difficile, fragile et enchanté : la documentation du processus de cette difficulté constituera la réalisation du projet.
Je me permets donc de vous solliciter pour une autre collecte de rêves et vous serais reconnaissant de me faire part de ceux qui vous animent ou vous ont animés.
Règles du jeu :
"Tout ce que nous vivons et imaginons comme rêve est un rêve : des rêves partagés quand nous sommes éveillés ; d'autres dont nous nous souvenons depuis longtemps ; des rêves connus parce qu'ils ont été racontés par d'autres (parents, enfants, grands-parents, amis, inconnus de passage, ...), des rêves écrits et relus, même de très courts fragments de rêves, ... La collection de rêves se poursuit avec de nouvelles évocations pour de nouvelles occasions. Les rêves, qui font partie de mes archives intimes et privées, ne seront dévoilés qu'à l'occasion de l'installation, mais ne seront en aucun autre cas partagés."
Indications pour les enregistrements audio :
- enregistrer de préférence des fichiers audio d'une durée brève, comprise entre 10 et 100 secondes ;
- vous pouvez enregistrer avec votre téléphone portable : la haute fidélité n'est pas nécessaire ;
- ne dites pas votre nom ; vous pouvez l'indiquer dans le nom du fichier si vous le souhaitez ;
- si le fichier est supérieur à 3 Mo, envoyez-le, si possible, par transfert de fichiers ou téléchargez-le sur un drive partagé.
