Les Voixes Electriques : Electrornithologie

As part of the Foyer Lire avec les vivantes : les carnet d'oiseaux I took inspiration from the installation Le Jardin des Voix Timides created at the Jardin des Plantes in Grenoble in 2021. I proposed an audio installation that diffused - via portable speakers hidden in the trees of the grove next to the Château de Cerisy orangery that welcomed us - synthetic sounds. Influenced by the subject of the foyer and perhaps also by the colloque Jean Cocteau, le déniaisement des lettres et des arts which ran in parallel I decided to title this project Le Voix Electriques.
To the participants in the foyer I proposed listening to a selection of synthetic electronic sounds, which to my ear sounded like signals, strange and mysterious voices. Collectively we have chosen a dozen "voices" and assigned them a fictitious name, pseudo Linnaeus, and a descriptive card pseudo scientific, of imaginary beings; the project was entitled "Electrornithologie".

For one night, these voices constituted the imaginary and fantastical fauna of the castle's grove.
