Sound Reactivations: Deserted Dreams

As part of the Sound Reactivations project, during the artist residency at Café Tissardmine, I created the audio-visual installation Deserted Dreams, in a house that had been abandoned and deserted for many years, in the tiny village of Tissardmine, in the Moroccan Sahara, not far from the Algerian border. 

Voices recorded over the years (already part of the Frozen Dreams and Thawing Dreams project) recount dreams in different languages: here they are broadcast from hidden loudspeakers, in the twilight of a lyric desert sunset.

  Abbiamo bisogno dei vostri sogni   We need your dreams (scroll down/click)   Nel mese luglio 2021, nell’ambito del convegno  L’Enchantement qui réviént  svoltosi negli spazi magici del Castello di Cerisy ho proposto e realizzato  Entre son et songe: Dream’s Cloud ,  installazione visiva e sonora, poi utilizzata per la copertina del volume degli atti. Nella proposta scrivevo: "Nello spirito delle Parole Gelate di Rabelais (1) , appesi a palloncini colorati e luminosi, una dozzina di altoparlanti portatili diffonderanno di giorno e di notte, voci che raccontano i loro sogni; voci anonime raccolte prima e durante la residenza che saranno diffuse solo nei modi e in occasione dell’installazione." Ho raccolto al momento 120 sogni raccontati in francese, italiano, inglese, cinese, coreano, tunisino, marocchino, spagnolo, portoghese. Giuseppe Gavazza Dreams Cloud A bit in the spirit of Rabelais' Paroles gelées ,  but without the fighting (make dreams, not war!).  Attached to luminous balloons, I install a dozen pocket loudspeakers scattered around the garden, which will broadcast voices narrating their dreams.  During the first installations, at the Château de Cerisy-la Salle in July and August 2021, I collected more than eighty dreams told by voices speaking in French, Italian, English, Chinese, Korean, Tunisian, Spanish.   The collection of dreams continues with new calls for new opportunities. The dreams, part of this intimate and private archive of mine, will only be unveiled on the occasions of the installation but not shared in any other ways.  CALL FOR DREAMS Send me a recording in which you narrate your dreams: any language is good for dreaming it's not necessary that the recording is of high quality: it's ok an MP3 recording or other compressed format made with a portable phone....

Le voci del mondo, Projection sonore spatiale par le Dôme Sonore,  création française, Auditorium Grenoble INP, #AST 2015  mercredi 18 novembre, 20 et 22h Le voci del mondo (The voices of the world) for orchestra of loudspeakers, everyone with its Genesis player inside  is a composition conceived for a 24 loudspeakers orchestra: in this concert the 24 speakers ACROE's  Projection sonore spatiale Dôme Sonore. Working for my PhD on the subject of GENESIS (software of musical synthesis for physical modelling) as a tool for musical formalisation (mainly for composition) I have realized many thousands of models capable to generate sounds. Strange Duo.mg,  Manuel Zigante cellist and Giuseppe Gavazza composer and electronic performer participated at the first Festival delle Statistica, Treviso,  Friday 11th and Saturday 12th september 2015  presenting  Musica, razionalità, fantasia a program of compositions related with the main theme of the Festival, in collaboration with Daniela Cocchi che trattava il tema Statistica e letteratura In this occurrence Strange Duo.mg presented some new composition completed by some other of repertoire. Something new, Tuesday June 10th 2014: about a first performance of a new composition at Torino, Festival Antidogma

For Festival of Contemporary Music Antidogma , next Tuesday June 10th, at h. 9 p.m., Teatro Vittoria, Turin, first performance of Dodici corde e mezzo , a new composition for guitar and synthesized sounds. The soloist will be Davide Ficco. The piece propose a personal approach to electroacoustic music. Normally compositions mixing electronic and acoustic instruments find a balance by amplifying the acoustic instruments: acoustic instruments grow up to electroacoustic dimension.
